About Us

….preserving African languages

Languages matter.

Even more so, with its richness of cultures and the continent deemed the future economic growth engine of the world, African languages matter and it was on this bedrock that The AFLANG Project (The African Languages Project) was birthed in 2016.

  • Be it to those youths who have lost their language, cultural heritage and knowledge and with them, that integral part of their identity (AllAfrica; News24).

  • Be it to students, particularly children in rural communities, whose learning and development is hindered or who don’t have access, at all, to education because they are not taught in their mother tongue (UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning).

  • Or be it to those businesses and non-profits that fail, or those individuals, work colleagues and communities that remain in perpetual conflict with one another, all due to their lack of cultural awareness and mutual understanding (NTU-SBF Centre for African Studies).

Language affects us all.

Hence, led by Africans with a passion for Africa and with help from universities and native speakers across Africa, The AFLANG Project uses the power of technology to preserve and promote African languages—emphasising fun and engaging learning and an infusion of culture and history learning—for the benefit of all. Join us on our mission.
